About Trust

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Education Trust, Fatehgarh Sahib was established in 1993 under the patronage of Shromani Gurudwara Parabandhak Committee with the approval of Govt. of Punjab. Establishing of the Trust was the brain child of the founder President, Panth Rattan (Late) Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra. His vision was to serve the rural children deprived of high quality education at an affordable cost. With this vision and his dynamic leadership, SGPC established many Schools and Colleges in Punjab, other States of India and abroad.

The Trust following the legacy of the first President embarked on many such projects of opening schools and colleges for providing value based education and moulding the character of the young generation for the service of the society. A need was felt by the present Trust President Jathedar Avtar Singh that the youth of Punjab is not joining the Armed Forces due to lack of guidance, motivation and training. The strength of young men joining the Armed Forces from Punjab had reduced drastically. It was decided that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Education Trust will conduct a +2 Integrated course and prepare the students the physically and intellectually to appear for the competition examination of National Defence Academy Khadkwasla, Pune.

The Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Armed Forced Preparatory Academy, Fatehgarh Sahib was established in 2016 with the sole purpose of imparting academic excellence to young 10th class pass out students and prepare them for the +2 Board examination. At the same time they will be put through holistic training for National Defence Academy. In this training for NDA, students will be put through various modules of leadership, Management Stress and Skills, Psychological Test, Group Test, Obstacle Course and Communication Skills.

Having successfully started the first session of Plus 2 integrated course, the trust is now starting graduation plus integrated course for girl students from 2017 for Women Entry Scheme into Defence Forces as officers.

The Academy is situated in an idyllic environment and is housed in a sprawling pollution free campus located in sacred surroundings of historic Gurudwaras of Fatehgarh Sahib which stands testimony to the supreme sacrifice of the two young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji i.e. Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh ji, who were bricked alive here at the tender age of 9 and 7 years respectively. Mata Gujar Kaur Ji, mother of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, also breathed her last here after the episode of supreme sacrifice of her grandsons. The Academy is named after Baba Banda Singh Bahadur a great saint and warrior who was deputed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to conquer the Sirhind and put an end to the tyranny of Mughal Empire. Fatehgarh Sahib has an idle geographical location with the proximity of three important cities of the region i.e. Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Patiala. Sirhind railway station (3 Kms away from the Academy) is on the main route i.e. Amritsar to New Delhi and many important trains pass through Sirhind. The closest international airport is Chandigarh.
